Spartans Clip Wolverines in Tight Contest
The rain at Howling Park did not keep Sandy Springs and Wichita from finishing their game.

Getting a good performance from right fielder Saad Maan, the Sandy Springs Spartans defeated the Wichita Wolverines, 5-3. Maan went 1 for 1 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times for the Spartans. Sandy Springs reliever Javier Peña picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Freek Janszen absorbed the loss.

Sandy Springs took a 4-3 lead on Roberto Santiso's 6th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Santiso hit in the top of the ninth, left Wichita pitcher Freek Janszen shaking his head.

"Nice to get this one," said Santiso. "Wins have been hard to come by."

The Spartans, now 7-15, have not found much traction so far in 2028.
