In a tight battle between the New York Ninjas and the Boise Hawks, pitcher Kevin Everhart was in the zone. The New York right-hander was named the player of the game in New York's 1-0 win. The winner was Tuan Mai in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Ryunosuke Takahashi took the loss. Nobuatsu Fukumoto was called on to finish, recording his 5th save.
Had Jim Unknown not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases empty, Unknown hit a solo home run. That made the score 1-0, in favor of the Ninjas.
"Getting ahead of the hitters was the key," said Everhart.
The Hawks fall to 9-12 and continue their uninspiring start to the 2028 season.
