Phoenix Lights starter Noritoshi Sato pitched a strong game against the Sandy Springs Spartans at UFO Field, leading the Lights to a 9-3 win. Sato got the win, improving to 1-2. He allowed 6 hits and walked 1 over 6 innings. Sato allowed 3 earned runs. Fahad Munir recorded the save for Phoenix, his 1st of the season.
Tied up with the Spartans in the bottom of the fifth, the Lights got a boost from first baseman Norishige Iwamoto. With the bases loaded, Iwamoto saw a 1-0 fastball from Haramala Senagala and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Phoenix on top, 4-3.
"It's a mindset," said Sato. "Just trying to do your job, trying to be consistent."
The win leaves Phoenix with a record of 12-8.
