Sandy Springs Edges New York, 2-1, Kato Ks 12
|
The Sandy Springs Spartans and New York Ninjas played a tight game at The Coliseum, with the hosts claiming the hard-fought win.
In a low-scoring game between Sandy Springs and New York, pitcher Kyoji Kato was excellent. The Sandy Springs left-hander was named the player of the game in Sandy Springs's 2-1 win. Javier Peņa earned the save for Sandy Springs, his 1st.
The Spartans liked what they saw from Kato. The 22-year old pitcher had a commanding presence on the mound, limiting the Ninjas to no earned runs on 3 hits over 7.1 innings, and striking out 12.
"There are no moral victories," said losing manager Reda Guillon.
The Spartans, with just their 6th win so far in 2028, have yet to catch fire.
