With designated hitter Wiley Atherton leading the charge, the Phoenix Lights defeated the Long Island Ducks, 9-3, at UFO Field. Atherton was 2-5 with a home run, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. The loss drops Long Island to 8-10.

Orlando González had a critical at-bat with no one out in the bottom of the fifth for Phoenix. He came through with a 2-run triple to put Phoenix in front, 4-2.

"We're in a funk and we need to shake ourselves out of it," said Long Island manager Bob Reece.
