Prowlers Go Down to Defeat, 5-3
|
The Havana Stogies topped the Oklahoma City Prowlers, 5-3, in Roberto Clemente League action at The Humidor. The player of the game was Havana pitcher and Flossmoor, Illinois native John Stroud. Stroud went 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 0, and struck out 4. His record improves to 6-0. The third-place Stogies now have a 4-game winning streak.
Tied up with the Prowlers in the bottom of the fourth, the Stogies got a boost from designated hitter Tim Cummings. With a runner on 2nd, Cummings saw a 0-1 cutter from Cachari Suketu and hit a run-scoring double to break the stalemate and put Havana on top, 4-3.
"We're stringing together some nice wins," said Havana manager Reynaldo Vázquez.
