Lights Edge DeKalb in Pitching Duel

Pedro Gravina could take little solace in pitching a good game. The fact is his DeKalb Cornhuskers lost, dropping a 1-0 decision to the Phoenix Lights at UFO Field. Reliever Vic Pilgrim picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Pedro Gravina took the loss. The Cornhuskers fall to 4-7 and continue their wobbly start to the 2028 season.
Phoenix took the lead with one out in the bottom of the fourth when Wiley Atherton stroked a run-scoring double. That made the score 1-0 in favor of Phoenix. For the day, Atherton was 2 for 3 with a double.
"The old adage is true," said Atherton. "Good pitching stops good hitting."
