In a close game at Celestrial Fields at Hermann Park, the Bloomington Blazers edged the South Carolina Bombers, 5-4. Bloomington third baseman Hidekazu Takeuchi earned the nod as player of the game. He went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Lou Latulippe got the win, improving to 3-3. He pitched 6.2 innings, giving up 7 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 4 and walking 5. With the win, Bloomington goes to 16-21, while the Bombers fall to 19-17.
Takeuchi hit a 2-run home run in the bottom of the third to help the Bloomington cause. The home run, which was hit off Ange Schmit, allowed Bloomington to take a 4-2 lead.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said South Carolina manager Randy Huggett.
