The Madison Beehive put one in the win column with an opening day 8-6 triumph over the Sandy Springs Spartans. The crowd at The Hive watched Carlos Duarte put on a fine performance, for which he was named player of the game. Earning his 1st save for Madison was Tom Wilson.

In the bottom of the first inning, first baseman Michael Jenkins came through big-time for the Beehive. With Madison leading 1-0, he belted a 2-run home run.

"I don't lose sleep over a loss," said Jenkins. "But I have better dreams after a win."
