The Long Island Ducks trumped the Boise Hawks, 6-4, at Basque Block Field. Long Island catcher Francis Unicombe was named player of the game for his performance. He went 3-4 with 3 singles. Long Island reliever Ewan Pethick was the winner. His record is now 2-0. Pedro Salas took the loss. Earning his 1st save of the year was Carl Tyler.
Long Island grabbed control in the top of the seventh. With two out and runners on 1st and 2nd, Rajeshkumar Sarin delivered a 2-run triple, to make it 6-4 in favor of the Ducks.
In comments to the Long Island Gazette, Sarin admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear."
The Ducks, now 2-0, have been playing some good baseball.
