Rivera Powers Ducks to 12-6 Win
The Boise Hawks inaugurated the 2028 campaign with a disappointing 12-6 loss to the Long Island Ducks at Basque Block Field. Long Island center fielder Enrique Rivera had a big impact on the outcome. He went 4 for 5 with 4 singles and a walk. He drove in 5 runs. The winner was Long Island reliever Ewan Pethick, now 1-0. The loser was Pedro Salas.

Amersfoort, Netherlands-born Jeremy Guis came through in the clutch. In the top of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 2nd and the Ducks trailing 6-5, he hit a 2-run double to left-center to put Long Island on top.

"We came out aggressive," said Long Island Ducks manager Bob Reece. "We came out swinging the bats."
