Loss to Red Bulls Extends Buzzard's Bay Losing Streak
|
The Red Bulls had to overcome a good performance from Buzzard's Bay pitcher Sergio Marino to claim a 7-5 win at Bloomfield Road. Marino went 5.1 innings and allowed 3 earned runs. Julian Fanner got the win, improving to 15-5. He worked 6 innings, giving up 5 runs on 10 hits, while striking out 9 and walking 0. The losing skid has reached 6 games for Buzzard's Bay.
In the top of the 7th, shortstop Jude Growcott gave Riverside the lead when he hit a 2-run double. The Red Bulls had been trailing 5-4, but the two-out double off Buzzard's Bay pitcher Dimitri Jourdan changed that -- and Riverside went on to win.
"We're in a funk and we need to shake ourselves out of it," said Buzzard's Bay manager Roberto Núñez.
