|
John Payne never let the Rams get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his change up, to pitch the Shamrocks to a 5-1 win. In 6 innings, Payne surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 4. He allowed 1 run. Gabriel Bernard earned his 6th save in 7 chances.
The Shamrocks got a big at-bat from designated hitter Justin Dixon. For the game, Dixon went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the sixth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 12th home run of the season gave Pacifica a 3-1 lead.
"I really like what we did out there today," Dixon said after the game.
The first-place Shamrocks, at 105-55, now lead their division by 6˝ games.
