Columbus starter Maurice Gould put a stranglehold on the Minnesota offense. The right-hander had complete command of his forkball in leading the Codebreakers to a 4-1 win. Gould, now 4-1, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 6, walking 0, and allowing 1 earned run. Manny Palma earned the save for Columbus, his 12th of the year.

Also making an impact was left fielder Nobuatsu Kaneko, who drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning for the Codebreakers. For the game, Kaneko was 2-3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2.

"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Columbus skipper Julián Cancil. "I can't complain."

The first-place Codebreakers have won 5 in a row.
