Red Bulls Topple Defenders with Late Rally

Steve Silver did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the West Coast Defenders from losing, 7-6, to the Riverside Red Bulls at North Shore Park. Silver was 1 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Allen Blair earned the save, his 19th, for the Red Bulls. The Red Bulls improved to a lofty 108-43.
Shumei Fujimoto's hit in the top of the ninth was a game-changer. With one out, he rapped a fastball from Tao Ru for a run-scoring single. It put Riverside in front, 7-6.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Fujimoto told reporters after the game.
