Defenders Prevail, 3-1, Over Sioux Falls
|
In a tight battle between the West Coast Defenders and the Sioux Falls Trojans, pitcher Yoshida Yamamoto was in the zone. The West Coast right-hander was named the player of the game in West Coast's 3-1 win. Yamamoto went 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 3, and struck out 5. His record improves to 2-15. George Fortin earned the save, his 29th.
Françisco Gazo contributed an important at-bat in the top of the sixth. With the bases loaded, he got hit by a pitch, driving in 1 run. It was one at-bat that helped send West Coast to the win.
"It was just a matter of executing," said West Coast manager John Griffin.
