Shamrocks Best Black Knights in Pitching Duel
|
The bats were silent much of the day at McCormick Field. But Ron Colbert conjured up just enough offense to carry the Shamrocks past the Killeen Black Knights, 2-1. Colbert was 2 for 4 with 2 singles. Pacifica reliever Pascal Leroy was the winner. His record is now 5-2. The losing pitcher was Xiong Yang. Gabriel Bernard earned the save for Pacifica, his 1st of the year.
Nathan Sewell had a nice at-bat for the Shamrocks with one out in the bottom of the third. With runners on 1st and 2nd, the third baseman hit a run-scoring double, which would prove important in the Pacifica win.
"The old adage is true," said Colbert. "Good pitching stops good hitting."
The last-place Black Knights have dropped 4 straight games.
