Hackers Best Rams in Pitching Duel
|
The Silicon Valley Hackers got a scintillating performance from pitcher Qing-nian Wa, who shut out the Frisco Rams, 2-0. Silicon Valley reliever Kiyomitsu Shini picked up the win, bumping his record to 1-0. Domingo Moreno was collared with the loss. Getting the save was Izumo Ikarashi, his 6th.
The Rams had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Hackers going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 23-year old right fielder Rhys Wallace came to the plate. Wallace hit a solo home run on a 1-1 cutter from Frisco hurler Domingo Moreno. It was Wallace's 8th home run of the year.
"We did just enough to win," Wa said.
Silicon Valley now owns a record of 79-67.
