Defenders Take Down Hellcats, 5-3
|
Despite a fine performance by right fielder Jason Donovan, the Jacksonville Hellcats suffered a 5-3 loss to the West Coast Defenders. Donovan was 3-4 with 2 home runs, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. George Fortin converted his 28th save in 30 tries. West Coast, now 64-77, holds 5th place in the Alexander Cartwright League Bernie Brewer Division.
Keith Reese went 3 for 5 with 3 singles for West Coast. The 26-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the top of the third. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Phil Phillips. It was his 33rd RBI of the season.
"We did enough to win," said Reese.
