Newark designated hitter Lewis Hoskins made his presence felt in the 4-0 Jail Birds triumph over the Temple Goers. Hoskins was 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles. Newark reliever Manny Gaona was credited with the win, to go to 1-2. Shunsen Matsumoto took the loss for Temple. Even with the win, the Jail Birds have a dismal 36-105 record.

Chipping in for Newark was center fielder Guillermo Urive. He stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the second. For the game, Urive went 1 for 3 with a double and a walk.

"It was just a matter of executing," said Newark manager António Gómez.
