Shamrocks Deal Trojans Painful Loss

Paul Rice did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Sioux Falls Trojans from losing, 5-4, to the Pacifica Shamrocks at McCormick Field. Rice went 2-4 with a home run and a triple. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. The win was Paul Calamy's in relief. His record improves to 5-7. Enrique Castillo took the loss for Sioux Falls. The first-place Shamrocks, at 84-46, now lead their division by 4½ games.
Coming to the plate with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning, Pacifica right fielder Si-dao Chi had a chance to be the hero. Facing Sioux Falls pitcher Enrique Castillo with runners on 1st and 3rd, Chi, who is rated as the 78th best prospect by BNN, hit a sacrifice fly.
"It's great when the crowd gets into it," Chi said.
