Defenders Get Road Win, 4-1
|
The West Coast Defenders dealt the Newark Jail Birds a 4-1 loss at Cobras Ballpark. Yong-sup Kim was the star on offense. He was 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk. Kyuso Hagi picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 4-1. Lonnie Young was tagged with the loss. George Fortin recorded the save for West Coast, his 26th of the season.
Kim in the top of the fourth had a productive at-bat. With a runner on 1st and the Defenders leading 1-0, he hit a single.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said Newark manager António Gómez.
With the win over Newark, the Defenders improved to 58-66.
