Beetlecats Clip Red Bulls in Tight Contest
|
Riverside pitcher Julian Fanner gave the Beetlecats all they could handle, but in the end, Buzzard's Bay left Red Bull Stadium with a 6-5 win. Fanner allowed no earned runs on 4 hits over 6 innings. Hidekazu Komatsu earned the save for Buzzard's Bay, his 29th of the year. The Beetlecats now own a record of 76-47.
Both teams had trouble manufacturing runs. So, Jim Banks's at-bat in the top of the eighth was critical. With one out, the Buzzard's Bay left fielder hit a 2-run single, to give his team a 4-2 lead.
"Enjoyed this one," Banks told the Buzzard's Bay Today. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
