The Temple Goers topped the West Coast Defenders, 5-2, in Alexander Cartwright League action at North Shore Park. The player of the game was Temple pitcher Danny Wilson. Wilson picked up the win for Temple, going 7.1 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 2-0. Octávio Mendoza closed the door for Temple, picking up his 5th save of the year.
The game hit a turning point in the top of the third inning, when the Goers were trailing 2-1. David Swanson delivered a two-out 3-run home run for Temple, catapulting his team into the lead.
"That's a solid team effort right there," said Swanson. "Everyone's feeling pretty positive after that win."
