Jacksonville first baseman Doug Mullins played a vital role in his team's 8-2 triumph over Newark. He was 2-4 with a double and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for Jacksonville. The win was credited to Baden Thwaites in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Dani López took the loss. Newark now has a 5-game losing streak.
Jason Donovan dealt the Jail Birds a blow in the bottom of the fifth. Batting with runners on 1st and 3rd and Jacksonville trailing 2-0, Donovan, who was drafted in the two round of the 2027 draft, hit a first pitch fastball for a run-scoring single.
Newark manager António Gómez said his team was "out of sync."
