Reese Lifts Defenders to 11-7 Win
The West Coast Defenders stopped the Buzzard's Bay Beetlecats, 11-7, at North Shore Park. The Defenders got a big game from Keith Reese, who was 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 3 times and drove in 2. The winner was West Coast reliever Katsunan Suzuki, now 2-0. The loser was Bert Bleazard. West Coast is now 53-62.

There were several reasons the Defenders beat the Beetlecats, but one factor was Hirofumi Rin. In the bottom of the fifth, the West Coast first baseman came to bat and hit a bases-clearing double. It staked his team to a 8-5 lead.

"It was offense that won us the game," said winning manager John Griffin.
