Shamrocks Fall to Hellcats, 7-4
|
Jacksonville starter Kane Wright turned in a competent performance at McCormick Field as his team beat Pacifica, 7-4. The winning pitcher was Wright, now 10-10. He tossed 8 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 6. Kawanari Uchida earned the save, his 8th, for the Hellcats.
The Hellcats beat the Shamrocks in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Motoki Hayakawa produced in the top of the fifth. Batting against Pacifica pitcher Carlos León, Hayakawa gave his team a 5-4 lead when he hit a run-scoring single.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Jacksonville Hellcats manager Pete Dellow. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
After today's action, Jacksonville sits at 47-66, while Pacifica falls to 72-41.
