|
West Coast got an elite performance from starting pitcher Chris Stone in taking a 5-1 decision over the Sioux Falls Trojans. Stone, now 3-3, was the winner. In 5 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 3, walking 5, and allowing 1 earned run. The Defenders improve their record to 49-59 with the win over Sioux Falls.
Also having an impact was center fielder Françisco Gazo, who stroked a run-scoring double in the bottom of the fourth for West Coast. For the game, Gazo went 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles.
"If I go out there and help the team win, that's all you can do," said Stone.
