Jail Birds Go Down to Defeat, 10-2
|
The Atlantic City Enforcers downed the Newark Jail Birds, 10-2, at Parliament Field. The Enforcers were led by Masujiro Hayagawa, who captured player of the game honors. He was 1-2 with a home run and 3 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Atlantic City reliever Jong-min Kim picked up the win, upping his record to 4-1. Francisco Encarnación shouldered the loss. Even with the win, the Enforcers have a dismal 32-72 record.
Philander Fikias was one of the major contributors to the win for Atlantic City. The light-hitting shortstop stroked a double to right in the bottom of the first inning. For the day, he went 3-4 with a double and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.
"We're a pretty talented bunch when we're playing well," said Hayagawa. "I think we showed that here."
