The Goers had to overcome a fine performance from Newark pitcher Nobukazu Nakamura to grab a 5-3 win at Cobras Ballpark. Nakamura allowed 1 earned run over 6 innings. With the win, Temple goes to 45-56, while the Jail Birds fall to 27-74.
Also pitching for Temple was pinch hitter David Swanson, who hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth. For the game, Swanson went 1-1 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
