Jail Birds Take Close Win Over Beetlecats
Despite a fine performance by left fielder Jon Miron, the Buzzard's Bay Beetlecats suffered a 9-8 loss to the Newark Jail Birds. Miron was 3-5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3. Newark reliever Munemori Abe picked up the win, bumping his record to 1-6. Tomás Sameiro was collared with the loss. The Jail Birds, at 25-68, sit in last place in the Alexander Cartwright League Bernie Brewer Division.

Newark won the game in the bottom of the ninth inning. With no outs and Tomás Sameiro on the mound for Buzzard's Bay, pinch hitter Hugo Saro hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Jail Birds fans to their feet.

"What a game," said Saro. "We needed every last run."
