The Newark Jail Birds stymied the Riverside Red Bulls, 4-2, at Red Bull Stadium. Marco Chiaudani, who had a good day at the plate, was named player of the game. He was 2 for 5 with 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI for Newark. Newark reliever Steve Burton got the win, raising his record to 3-0. Filipe Castanheta was tagged with the loss. Even with the win, the Jail Birds have a dismal 24-68 record.

Newark grabbed the momentum in the top of the fifth, when Chiaudani hit a 2-run single. His 13th hit of the season put the Jail Birds out in front, 3-1.

After the game, Newark manager António Gómez applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
