Hackers Take Down Black Knights, 8-2
|
Silicon Valley Hackers starter Mokichi Nishiyama kept the Killeen Black Knights hitters in check, leading his team to a comfortable 8-2 win. Nishiyama, now 6-4, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 7, walking 2, and allowing 2 earned runs. The Hackers have an impressive 58-35 record.
A key at-bat in the game came in the top of the fifth inning when the Hackers sent teenager Allen Foley to the plate against Black Knights hurler Armando Hernández. With the bases loaded and a whole stadium watching, the kid controlled his nerves and delivered huge, hitting a double off a 1-1 changeup to score 3.
"Throwing strikes was the main thing," Nishiyama said.
