Lake of the Isles Wolves starter Julien Martin turned in an exceptional performance against the Jacksonville Hellcats at The Den, resulting in a Lake of the Isles win, 4-2. The winning pitcher was Martin, now 4-3. He tossed 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 9. Bill Lacy picked up the save for Lake of the Isles, his 15th of the year.
Zhu Thum contributed an important at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With the bases loaded, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run. It was one at-bat that helped send Lake of the Isles to the win.
In comments to the Lake of the Isles Chronicle, Martin admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear."
The Hellcats have now dropped 5 straight.
