Jail Birds Get Past West Coast for 4-3 Win
|
The Newark Jail Birds did just enough to sneak past the West Coast Defenders, 4-3, at North Shore Park. Newark pitcher Manabu Yamauchi earned player of the game honors. Munemori Abe earned the save for Newark, his 9th of the year. After today's action, Newark sits at 23-63, while West Coast falls to 40-47.
Ronald Sanders made it 4-3 in favor of Newark when he delivered a run-scoring single. It came with two out in the top of the eighth. The Jail Birds went on to win.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," West Coast manager John Griffin said following the tough loss.
