Shamrocks Hang 9-2 Loss on Defenders
|
A nice crowd turned out to see the Pacifica Shamrocks and West Coast Defenders clash at North Shore Park.
The Pacifica Shamrocks thumped the West Coast Defenders, 9-2, at North Shore Park. Marty Aston was a big reason his team got the win. Aston went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Carlos León was the winner. Over 7 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 6 hits, with no walks and 4 strikeouts.
The Shamrocks beat the Defenders in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Alastair Honniball produced in the top of the second. Batting against West Coast pitcher Tsugumichi Yano, Honniball gave his team a 2-0 lead when he hit a 2-run single.
West Coast manager John Griffin said his team was "out of sync."
The Shamrocks sit in second place in the Alexander Cartwright League Bernie Brewer Division with a record of 51-30.
