Beetlecats Stay Hot, Beat Wolves

Buzzard's Bay Beetlecats starter Alfredo Crespo turned in a top-notch performance against the Lake of the Isles Wolves at The Den. The result was a win for the Beetlecats, 4-2. In 7 innings, Crespo surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 0. He allowed no runs. Hidekazu Komatsu recorded the save for Buzzard's Bay, his 15th of the season.
Buzzard's Bay pinch hitter António Medina said he was just trying to make contact when he came to bat with a runner on 1st in the top of the seventh. He did more than that -- Medina hit a 2-run home run to stake Buzzard's Bay to a 2-0 lead. His 5th home run of the season came off Lake of the Isles pitcher Manny Salazar.
"We're obviously playing with a lot of confidence," said Buzzard's Bay manager Roberto Núñez.
The Wolves have now dropped 5 straight.
