Cartellieri Goes Off, But Trojans Win
Sioux Falls withstood an impressive performance by Newark first baseman Ilari Cartellieri to defeat the Jail Birds, 6-3, at Cobras Ballpark. Cartellieri slugged 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Jonathan Burton earned the win for Sioux Falls. He lasted 5 innings, allowing 2 earned runs on 7 hits, while striking out 6. With the win, he raised his record to 4-3. Bing-de Ku got credit for the save for Sioux Falls. It was his 9th of the year.

The Trojans had to work out of trouble in the bottom of the ninth. The score was 6-3, Sioux Falls, with one out. Newark, with runners on 1st and 2nd, was mounting a threat. Guillermo Urive dug in at the plate, but on a 1-2 fastball, he struck out.
