The bats were silent much of the day at The Bird Stadium. But Mike Farquharson conjured up just enough offense to carry the Black Knights past the Riverside Red Bulls, 3-2. Farquharson went 2 for 3 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Killeen reliever Armando Hernández was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Robert Avila. Callum Butler earned the save for Killeen, his 1st.
Farquharson was 2 for 3 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once against the Red Bulls. With the game tied in the bottom of the seventh inning, he hit a sacrifice fly that scored 1 and put Killeen in front, 3-2.
"We were in it," said Riverside manager Joe Ward. "We just didn't score enough runs."
After today's action, Killeen sits at 19-44, while Riverside falls to 44-18.
