Jail Birds Cut Down Goers, 7-4
|
The Newark Jail Birds topped the Temple Goers, 7-4, with youngster Tomiji Kohara playing a key role. Kohara was 3 for 5 with 3 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Jail Birds in the win. Dani López, credited with the win, is now 2-7. He allowed 2 runs on 6 hits in 6 innings. Munemori Abe got the save, the 6th for him this season.
Kohara had a game-changing single in the top of the seventh. On a 0-2 fastball from Nathan Briggs, he banged a 2-run single to center, giving the Jail Birds a 4-2 lead. It was the 69th hit of the year for Kohara.
"Nice to get this one," said Kohara. "Wins have been hard to come by."
