Red Bulls Fall Short, 6-5, at Newark
The rain came, as predicted, but the Newark Jail Birds and Riverside Red Bulls were able to complete their ballgame.

The Newark Jail Birds beat the Riverside Red Bulls, 6-5, at Cobras Ballpark. The win was largely due to the efforts of third baseman Tomiji Kohara, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk. Newark reliever Mario Robles was the winner. His record is now 2-1. The losing pitcher was Julian Fanner. Jon Green earned the save for Newark, his 3rd of the year.

In the bottom of the third, Newark first baseman Ronald Sanders had a productive at-bat. With runners on 1st and 2nd and no one out, Sanders stroked a 2-run double to right. It made the score 5-3, Newark. For the game, he went 1-5 with a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.

"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Kohara told the Newark Chronicle.

Newark has now won 3 straight, while the Red Bulls have lost 3 in a row.
