Ducks Come Up Short at West Coast
|
The West Coast Defenders did just enough to sneak past the Wisconsin Dells Ducks, 4-3, at North Shore Park. West Coast pitcher Yoshida Yamamoto earned player of the game honors. In 6 innings, Yamamoto surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 3. He allowed 3 runs. The 4th-place Defenders now have a win-loss record of 25-29.
San Diego, California-born Jonathan King came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the fifth, with the bases loaded and the Defenders trailing 2-1, he hit a 2-run single to left to put West Coast on top.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Wisconsin Dells manager Bobby Edwards said following the tough loss.
