Trojans Topple Wolves with Late Rally
|
The Sioux Falls Trojans faced a tough opponent in Lake of the Isles pitcher Shojiro Nakayama, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Trojans Park by a final score of 3-1. Nakayama went 7 innings and allowed no earned runs. The winner was Joël Barbier in relief. His record improves to 2-1. Jim Unknown took the loss. Bing-de Ku finished the game for Sioux Falls and earned his 8th save.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the eighth, with Sioux Falls trailing 1-0, Randy Bullard was at the plate when Sioux Falls scored 2 on an error. The miscue enabled the Trojans to go in front, 2-1.
Bullard called winning a team effort. "It's not the same guy every time," he said. "It's the sum of the parts."
Today's win puts Sioux Falls at 28-22, while Lake of the Isles falls to 21-29.
