Enforcers Rally For Late Win Over Hackers
|
The Enforcers had to overcome a fine effort from Silicon Valley pitcher Qing-nian Wa to grab a narrow 5-3 win at San Jose Municipal Stadium. Wa went 6.1 innings and allowed no earned runs. Even with the win, the Enforcers have a dismal 14-32 record.
Had Luis Martínez not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Martínez hit a grand slam. That made the score 5-2, in favor of the Enforcers.
"I know we have our doubters," said Silicon Valley manager Bob Miller. "But I still have high hopes for this team."
