Hellcats Topple Shamrocks with Late Rally
|
The Hellcats had to overcome a fine performance from Pacifica pitcher Ed Warnecke to grab a 5-2 win at McCormick Field. Warnecke allowed 1 earned run over 5.2 innings. Jacksonville reliever George Peck was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Paul Calamy took the loss for Pacifica. Larry Barnes finished to wrap up his 2nd save.
Jim Unknown's at-bat with one out in the top of the ninth was critical. The Jacksonville left fielder hit a 2-run double, to put his team on top, 3-2. Runs were at a premium and this one was huge.
"I've been criticized for being a slacker, but the one thing I do care about is winning," Unknown told the Jacksonville Bulletin.
Jacksonville now sits at 12-22, while Pacifica falls to 23-11.
