Stogies Jolt Codebreakers with Late Rally
|
The Stogies grabbed a win, 4-3, at Labatt Bleue Park, overcoming a fine effort from Columbus pitcher José Gallegos. Gallegos went 5 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Havana reliever Ralph Petersen was the winner. His record is now 1-1. The losing pitcher was Manny Palma. Abdul Razzaq Kharoti earned the save for Havana, his 6th of the year.
The most important at-bat for Havana came in the top of the ninth inning, when shortstop Oscar Jones stroked a 2-1 sinker to left-center for a 3-run home run, putting Havana up, 4-3.
"Some of the guys in here work pretty hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Jones told the Havana Gazette.
With the win, Havana improves its record to 15-16.
