The Pacifica Shamrocks were defeated, 5-2, by the Temple Goers. Leading the charge for Temple was center fielder Rhys Kirton. He went 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Temple starter Wynn Cox was credited with the win after throwing 90 pitches over 5 innings. His record now stands at 1-2. John Cosman earned the save for Temple, his 5th of the year.
The game turned with two out in the bottom of the fifth when Kirton, who is tied for 5th in the ACL in stolen bases with 5, hit a grand slam home run. It propelled the Goers into the lead, 4-2.
"We're feeling pretty good in this clubhouse right now after that one," Kirton told the Temple News.
Temple is off to a sluggish start, getting just their 6th win in 17 games.
