The Silicon Valley Hackers defeated the Killeen Black Knights, 7-1, in Alexander Cartwright League action at The Bird Stadium, with Silicon Valley center fielder Scott Stone named player of the game. Bobby Smith, who went 6.2 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 1 run on 5 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 7. His record now stands at 2-0.
An important at-bat for Silicon Valley came with two out in the top of the third. With the bases loaded, Stone hit a 2-run single, which contributed to the Hackers win.
In postgame comments, Stone told the Silicon Valley Daily: "Do people still doubt I give 100 percent?"
Silicon Valley, now 10-4, has gotten their season off to a good start.
