The rain could not dampen the enthusiasm of Manhattan Beach fans at Stars & Stripes Stadium.

Right-hander Bruno McCormick mesmerized the New York Mafia while leading the Manhattan Beach Patriots to a 5-0 victory. In 5.1 innings, McCormick surrendered 2 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 1. He allowed no runs.

The Patriots grabbed the lead in the bottom of the third. With two out, José Contreras hit a solo home run off Oda Kudo, putting Manhattan Beach in front, 2-0. For Contreras, it was his 6th home run of the season.

"It was a good effort all around," said McCormick.

With the loss, New York sinks to 16-13.
