Black Knights Come Back Late, Nip Hellcats
|
Hellcats Park was the site of a competitive game between the Jacksonville Hellcats and Killeen Black Knights.
Jacksonville pitcher Jim Unknown gave the Black Knights all they could handle, but in the end, Killeen left Hellcats Park with a 3-2 win. Unknown allowed 1 earned run on 4 hits over 6.1 innings. Killeen reliever Harrison Dabbs was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Noriaki Ine took the loss for Jacksonville. Umarah Abdul-Quddus closed it out for his 2nd save.
Both teams had trouble scoring runs. So, Nataraj Varsha's at-bat in the top of the ninth was huge. With one out, the Killeen left fielder drew a walk, driving in 1 run, to give his team a 3-2 lead.
"There are no moral victories," said losing manager Pete Dellow.
The Hellcats, now 2-8, have been pitiful so far.
